Allys Cascade Snake Fly variant is a great Sea Trout & a great Salmon Fly. They can be fished slightly sub-surface with a floating line, fished deeper with a sink tip or intermediate, or even close to the bottom with a fast sinker.
Allys Cascade, was created by Alistair Gowans, creator of the Allys Shrimp range of flies which probably account for more salmon than almost any other salmon fly. This variant as a snake fly is primarily targeted for sea trout, although it will catch aslmon and many different fish!. The Allys Cascade has accounted for many sea trout and other fish as well as the Atlantic salmon. Allys Cascade can produce fish in almost any conditions and at any time of year. In the summer tiny Allys Cascade tied on size 12 hooks or even smaller doubles or trebles will take fish in the very low water, they can be great fun skated along the water. When the water is higher or colder larger sizes on double or treble hooks (Allys Cascade Shrimp (Treble Hook)) up to size 4. For really high and cold water tube fly versions tied on plastic Allys Shrimp (Nylon Tube), aluminum or brass tubes are successful from spring to autumn.
