There are a number of natural flies covered by the term black gnat. These insects are generally terrestrial flies of the Bibio species, though some anglers consider the water-loving Empid flies to be the true black gnat. Regardless of your belief the Black Gnat is found in the fly-boxes of most fly sishermen.
