This is the name given to this pattern in the USA. It was first used as a trout fly but is a universal pattern and one of the finest grayling flies. In Slovenia the fly is known as the Grey Palmer. I have caught many grayling with this fly in Yorkshire rivers.

ive on been out once since i purchased the gnat and it accounted for 6 of the 11 fish i caught that day of which 1 of them was over 6lb so needless to say im looking foward to getting out again...
